Dear Delegates,

Welcome to this year's BERMUN conference!

At this BERMUN, we will focus on “Fostering Global Citizenship among Identities and Responsibilities”. The fundamental idea of global citizenship is a shared global identity between every human; it encompasses responsibilities to the world and others. The concept of global citizenship ideally includes the belief in international human rights.

For this reason, one of the topics the Human Rights Committee (HRC) will discuss is “Reassessing the Universality of the UN Declaration of Human Rights”. The UDHR discusses the universal rights of every human. Member States such as Egypt and China have raised whether it represents global interest due to its Western-based sentiments.  In effect, some have contested the UDHR by creating their own declarations including the Cairo Declaration. The HRC will also tackle the ever-increasing ease, confidence and influence of hatefulness in modern media in the topic of “Addressing the Role of Social Media amidst Rising Xenophobia”.

Because of our committee’s influential role in setting international human rights, I advise you to be confident with your country’s policy. Understanding one’s own policy is crucial to appearing certain and having the ability to make impromptu responses.

Since I started my MUN career two years ago, I have represented many countries as a delegate. This will be my 7th MUN conference and my first chairing experience.

I was born in Rome and live in Berlin Germany, I speak Italian, English, and German. I'm 15-years-old and attend the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. My hobbies include playing lacrosse, spending time with friends, and exploring new parts of Berlin.

I'm excited to meet you in November!
