Dear Delegates,

Welcome to BERMUN 2026! I will be chairing the Middle School MUN at this BERMUN conference. MS MUN gives younger students the option to participate in a full-fledged BERMUN committee.

I am happy to introduce you to one of our committee topics, “Fair access to sustainable technology.” Our conference theme, "Resilient and Sustainable to Combat Climate Inequality, is closely linked to the use of technology. Access to the newest technologies is, unfortunately, still not guaranteed to everyone. Countries that suffer from political divisions or who are LEDCs often have difficulty getting the technology they need to grow sustainably. Affordability, protectionism, and intellectual property laws hinder these countries from accessing these technologies. Fair access to sustainable technology in respect of combating climate inequalities is crucial to ensure the climate action benefits for everyone, to realize their worldwide full potential, to prevent missing tools for adaptation and growth, and thus prevent worldwide deeper inequalities amid rising climate risks.

At the time of the conference, I will be 15 years old, and I will be going to 10th grade at John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. I was born in Zurich, Switzerland, but lived, for the most part of my life, in Berlin, Germany. I spent some time in Costa Rica and went to the American International School in San Jose. I love debate and politics, and have participated in nine MUN conferences. Besides MUN and politics, I am pretty busy with my hobbies. I love playing my violin, playing basketball, singing in the choir, skiing, and playing video games.

I can't wait to see you all in November. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

Frederik Merlin Fabian
