Dear Delegates of the International Labor Organization,

It is my absolute honor to welcome you to this year’s BERMUN2 conference.

The theme of this year’s BERMUN2 conference, "Fighting Inequality," touches on one of the most urgent challenges of our time. Despite progress and achievements in the world, inequality takes many shapes, even in highly developed societies. Gender disparities, wealth inequality, or systemic racism are some pressing issues affecting millions of people.

The topic of our committee is the core of this fight for equality. The key to inequality rests in decent wages, safe working conditions, and basic rights for all workers regardless of circumstances. It is a shared responsibility to support policies that make sure no one is left behind. Every human being has the right to dignity, earning a decent living and providing for themselves and their family without fear of exploitation or a life of extreme poverty.

I am a soon-to-be 16-year-old proud German-American citizen, living in Berlin. I have been attending the John F. Kennedy School since the age of 5, and since then, I have expressed a strong interest in world politics. I spend my free time playing baseball, hanging out with friends, occasionally playing video games, and reading. I believe that ensuring equal universal labor standards is one of the most pressing topics today and needs to urgently be discussed. I look forward to engaging with you as we tackle these important issues together and hopefully end the conference with a clear and strong resolution!

Sincerely,

Hamilton Turner
