Dear Delegates,
I’m thrilled to welcome you to the Disarmament Committee!
While many enjoy privileges others can only dream of, inequality remains widespread, even in highly developed nations. Economic disparities and unequal access to education are just two examples of challenges faced by marginalized groups. This year’s theme, “Fighting Inequality,” encourages us to tackle these injustices and strive for a world where everyone has equal rights and opportunities.
We will discuss the pressing topic: “Addressing Ethnic Inequalities in post-conflict zones”. After conflicts, societies must rebuild institutions and heal divisions that fueled violence. Ignoring ethnic inequalities can continue cycles of distrust and undermine peace efforts. Tackling these issues removes barriers of exclusion, promotes social cohesion, and strengthens trust among diverse communities. Without these efforts, instability and renewed violence remain high, threatening progress and development.
On a more personal note, I am 17 years old and am an 11th grader at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. Aside from MUN, I do taekwondo, I play football, and I enjoy skiing too. I have been part of my school’s Model United Nations program for four years, making this my 9th conference.
I’m looking forward to seeing you in February!
