Dear Delegates of BERMUN2,
Welcome to the 2025 Economic and Social Council.
This BERMUN conference theme will be addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time: fighting inequality. Inequality is the primary cause for the current social and economic divide. Addressing this issue not only sheds light upon unscrutinized discrimination but also encourages necessary action.
In our committee, we will be discussing income and wealth inequality. These are both among the most complex challenges facing our world today. These disparities affect access to education, healthcare, and housing while providing the rich with more opportunities and power. This gap between the rich and poor keeps expanding, further exacerbating the economic pressure on low-income households, racial minorities, and women who already face more challenges. Fixing this is difficult, as it stems from other systematic issues like unequal access to resources and unfair policies.
Having been a dedicated member of my school’s MUN for nearly a year, I have first-hand experience being a delegate. Though this is my first time chairing, I bring with me a deep commitment to fostering fruitful debate, ensuring that all of you feel heard and empowered to contribute.
I am a 15-year-old Turkish-American from Berlin, and I like to spend my time making music, ice skating, and going out with friends. I believe that fighting inequality requires more than just understanding policy but also engaging with diverse perspectives, and I am excited to hear the ideas you will bring to the ECOSOC.
I will do my best to make this BERMUN2 as memorable for you as my first conference was for me. MUN conferences, like these, are a chance to speak up and let your voice be heard.
I look forward to seeing you all in February!
