Lycée Franco-Allemand de Buc

Esteemed delegates of HSC,

It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to the Historical Security Council at BERMUN XXXV.

This year’s conference theme, “Resilient & Sustainable Development to Combat Climate Inequality,” closely aligns with the HSC’s topic. In the years preceding 2011, unusual weather conditions in the Pacific led to a lack of rain in Somalia, which caused crop failure. This combined with a multitude of other factors, including the Somali Civil War, also aggravated the famine. Notably, countries that contributed very little to global emissions are at higher risk and suffer disproportionately from climate-related crises, hence exacerbating already existing inequalities. Therefore, it is important to promote sustainable development for all and address climate inequality on a global level in international relations, especially when climate inequality leads to pervasive human suffering and death.

By way of introduction, I’m a sophomore at Lycée Franco Allemand de Buc, and I’ve been participating in MUN since 8th grade. I can truly say that it has been a gratifying and enjoyable experience for me.  I was born in Guangzhou and lived in China, France, and Luxembourg. I enjoy (Olympic) math, planespotting, Shakespeare, Rembrandt, Batman, and table tennis.

I look forward to seeing you at BERMUN and also visiting Berlin for the first time!

Sincerely,

Tanguy Bonnisseau
