Dear Delegates,
Welcome to BERMUN 2026!
One of our topics this year is “Fair Access to Sustainable Technology”, linking to our conference theme of “Resilient & Sustainable Development to Combat Climate Inequality.” This year's theme reminds us that, although healing our planet is a high priority, we must ensure that all nations have the opportunity to thrive in it for generations to come. It is known that technology is truly shaping our future, modernising every day, but is that future really worth it if not everyone can be part of it? How can nations fight climate change if they do not have access to the proper technology to do so? Let your voices be guided by confidence, and your solutions be shaped by your ideas and perspectives on a more unified and sustainable future for all.
Let me introduce myself. I was born in Brazil, but I have lived all over the world, including in Denmark, Singapore, the USA, and Germany. I am 17 years old and will be a 12th-grade student at the International School of Hamburg at the time of the conference. I love to travel and learn about other cultures, along with meeting people from all around the world, which is one of the reasons I enjoy MUN so much. Though MUN is mainly focused on debate and creating resolutions for our topics, we must not forget to immerse ourselves in all aspects of the conference, including making friends and learning others' stories, because these truly are memories that stay with you forever.
This will be my 3rd year participating in MUN and my 7th conference. Though I have evolved significantly since the start of my career, I always remember where this journey started. Just like some of you may be now, I was anxious and shy to voice POIs and defend or go up against resolutions. At the same time, I was filled with this desire to shape ideas that truly could spark change and hope that one day my voice would go beyond that podium at the front of the classroom. These early years of MUN are some of the most exciting because you are suddenly introduced to this new world of curiosity, perspectives, possibilities, but most importantly, hope; hope that our voices can someday reach further than the podium at the front of the classroom, and I am honored to be able to share this experience with you all.
I am looking forward to meeting you all!
Sincerely,
Victoria Hartmann
